Great sites for freelancers:
I’m a freelance transcriptionist (betcha never heard of such a thing), and these are some of the sites I use to get work. It’s pretty groovy. If you have a skill you can freelance with (writing, programming, data entry, website building, etc.), I’d check these out. Most sites have a limit on how many jobs you can bid on per week or per month unless you sign up for the “premium package” which, of course, have fees attached.

oDesk - This one is free for providers (freelancers) because the people seeking workers pay all the fees. This is my favorite.
LiveWork - This is a beta site so there’s not much work here yet.

I’m able to bring in a $200-$300 each month just by doing a few projects a month.

“ A photographer went to a socialite party in New York. As he entered the front door, the host said ‘I love your pictures - they’re wonderful; you must have a fantastic camera.’ He said nothing until dinner was finished, then: ‘That was a wonderful dinner; you must have a terrific stove.’ ”

“ It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do. There is no fun in doing nothing when you have nothing to do. Wasting time is merely an occupation then, and a most exhausting one. Idleness, like kisses, to be sweet must be stolen. ”

— Jerome K. Jerome, Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (1886)
